WMGLD changing Business Office hours on October 6th

(Wakefield, MA) – In an effort to better serve its customers and further conserve energy in public buildings, the Board of Light Commissioners of the Wakefield Municipal Gas & Light Department (WMGLD) has voted to change the department’s business office hours, effective Monday, October 6, 2008. The new hours will be part of a three-month pilot program that will be reviewed in January 2009.

According to General Manager Pete Dion, when the new schedule goes into effect next month, the WMGLD business office will open each day at 7:45 a.m., and will close on Friday afternoons, at 1 p.m. The office will continue to remain open on Thursday evenings until 6 p.m.

“Many customers have taken advantage of our earlier hours since February, so we will be expanding on that,” Dion explained. “In addition, we would like to be consistent with the recent change in Town Hall office hours. Our new hours will enable us to join the Town of Wakefield’s efforts in reducing heating and electricity costs, especially as the daylight hours get shorter.”

Beginning on October 6th, the WMGLD business office will be open from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, from 7:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, and from 7:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday.
