Payment Options

There are several ways you can pay your WMGLD electric bill each month:

  • Direct Payment
  • By Mail
  • In Person
  • After Hours
  • Payment Box

Direct Payment

The WMGLD has made bill paying a little easier and much more convenient by letting you pay your bill directly from your checking or savings account.

Applications for direct payment are available at the WMGLD Business Office at 9 Albion Street. A customer service representative will explain the program and help you complete the application. Once the application is submitted and all the necessary information is obtained, the WMGLD will process the application through your bank, a process that usually takes two weeks. You should pay your monthly bill as usual until you receive notification from the WMGLD. Because of the length of time in the billing cycle and Federal Reserve requirements, direct payment will not begin until the second billing after the enrollment.

Direct payment customers will have two weeks to question their bill before the necessary information is sent to the bank for automatic payment. If the payment is returned to the WMGLD for insufficient funds in the bank account, a $15.00 fee will be added to the next month's bill.

Customers who select direct payment can also take advantage of the WMGLD prompt payment discount.

By Mail

After you receive your WMGLD bill, you’ll have time to check its accuracy before payment is due. You can mail your payment, with the top portion of the bill, to the WMGLD at 9 Albion Street, Wakefield, MA 01880. Please allow enough time for the WMGLD to receive payment so you can take advantage of the prompt payment discount.

In Person

WMGLD customers can make their payments in person at the WMGLD Business Office at 9 Albion Street, Wakefield during regular business hours (Monday through Wednesday 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursdays, 7:45 a.m. to 6:00 p.m, Fridays 7:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) You can also take advantage of the payment slot located at the office. WMGLD payments can also be made at any office of The Savings Bank at 357 Main Street, 907 Main Street, and 599 North Avenue.

After Hours

After the Business Office closes, you can still pay your bill at the office by using the convenient payment slot.

Payment Box

The WMGLD lets you pay your bill without even leaving your car! Just drive up to the payment box, which is located on Smith Street at the corner of Lincoln Street, and deposit your payment in the box that looks like a yellow mailbox! The WMGLD collects the payments each weekday morning. Your payment will be credited to your account on the day it is received at the Business Office.
