HOW TO SAVE ENERGY

     How to Save Energy It is a great idea to save energy for many reasons. People can save money by saving energy and put it to better use for themselves. The environment should be protected and nonrenewable energy sources can be saved if we find alternative, natural energy sources. We also need to control pollution and help protect our air, water, and land by not burning so much fuel. Global warming is also an issue to think about as far as polluting our environment with fuel because when the air gets warmer ice in the arctic melts and turns into water. By throwing all of your vegetable and fruit scraps in a compost pile you can also save energy and renew resources in the home. There are many things that we can all do to save energy in the home. There are many things we can do in our own homes to save energy. You can feel for drafts around all doors and windows and seal them up and close all shutters and curtains at the end of the day. If you take a shower rather than a bath you can save up to 50 percent less energy. Also, do not heat rooms when you are not using them and if you turn down your heat by just 1 degree you can't even notice and it will reduce up to 5 percent of of energy consumption. Finally, turn off all lights when not using them and turn off your computers when not using them. Using the screen saver on a computer uses more energy from when you are actually using the computer itself.

     There are also things that we can do in the environment to help save energy. Windmill farms are being made to create natural energy by using wind. People are coming together and making them more because of the energy conservation they provide. Solar panels can also be put on homes and buildings to collect energy from the sun, which is also another natural resource. Natural gas can also be tapped into and is a cleaner more energy efficient energy source. Using more fuel efficient cars as well as electric cars, also known as Hybrids, can help the environment. By buying cars that use less fuel and get better gas mileage, does not only save the gases that go in the air but also saves the consumer money. Hybrid cars run on batteries and plug in to an electric outlet and do not use fuel. Saving energy can start in your very own home. If we all take the time to cut down on energy in the home we can make a difference. As a society we need to look for more energy efficient ways of heating and using less fuel. We only have this one earth so let's all make a difference for the environment and the people that will be living after us in the future.
