Mr. Eliot Payne, Beginnings
Chapter 1
The coincidence
One day, Mr. Eliot Payne was leaving his lab of conservation and non-pollution. As he walked out of his room, he looked at it. He forgot to turn the lights off! As he thought of the lights, they turned off by themselves and the switch even flipped! He went home and told his 5 year old son and 17 year old daughter all about the amazing occurrence. The 5 year old boy named Chris who was filled with excitement said, “What if you have super powers? We should call you Conservation Man. I know all about this because I studied it in school! I learned that electricity is often wasted when people leave lights on and run items like T.V. s and computers when they are not needed.”
Chapter 2
The Dream
In the night, Mr. Payne dreamed of how beautiful the city would look at night with all the lights flickering on and off. In the morning, Mr. Payne read his news-paper. The headline was: “Lights in the city go out of control!” Whoa! Mr. Payne tried thinking about turning the lights off. Sure enough, they turned off. Chris was right, Mr. Payne did have super powers!
Chapter 3
Powers for good
Mr. Payne thought about this and concluded he wouldn’t tell anyone and that he would use his powers for conservation, not havoc. He thought of all the lights turning off because it was a sunny day. Sure enough, the topic for the next newspaper would be “Black Out”. Next he thought of going out to see what else he could do. He stopped a person from driving to his neighbor’s who lived only 5 yards away. He shut off all the T.V.s of people who had been watching for over 3 hours. He even stopped the electricity in a telephone wire from shocking a squirrel. He found A.T.M.s and shut them off so people would do it the old fashioned and actually GO INSIDE THE BANK!
Chapter 4
The Turnonanator
Then, Mr. Payne heard a shrieking cry from what sounded like a man surrounded by cars going in all directions. There was a thick black smog so Mr. Payne couldn’t see anything. Mr. Payne tried to turn off the cars so the man could get out and people could stop wasting gas and actually see one another, but he couldn’t. He heard a cackle from behind him and it said “Having trouble stopping the cars? Yes I know your secret because I have the exact opposite talent! I am THE TURNONANATOR!” The Turnonanator made a car go into Mr. Payne’s direction. Mr. Payne heard it and tried to stop it. It didn’t stop! Mr. Payne dodged it quickly and heard the Turnonanator say “MY POWERS OVERIDE YOURS!” Mr. Payne said, “I agree, but that doesn’t mean I can’t beat you in a different way!” BAM! Mr. Payne smacked the Turnonanator right in the face. The Turnonanator was knocked out and when he woke up he forgot all about who he was. All the Turnonanator remembered was that he had super powers and how to talk, write, etc…
Chapter 5
Conclusion
The Turnonanator became Mr. Payne’s ally and they worked together to help the earth. But you don’t have to be a super hero to conserve energy. You can help with the little things you do every day. You can walk, ride a bike or a bus, or carpool instead of all going in separate cars. You can limit you T.V. time and play with non-electric toys instead. You can also recycle unneeded materials. These are just some ways you can help the earth.
