(Wakefield, MA) –The Wakefield Municipal Gas and Light Department (WMGLD) is continuing its partnership with Mission of Deeds to promote the Buy-a-Bed program and to accept new bedding at the 9 Albion Street, Wakefield business office. This is the fifth consecutive year that the WMGLD has partnered with Mission of Deeds to provide furniture and household items to people in need.

Mission of Deeds, Inc., a non-profit organization based in Reading, provides these items - without charge - to people in need. Since its inception, Mission of Deeds has provided furniture and bedding to more than 7,000 area households based on referrals from social workers and clergy.

WMGLD customers can either bring new twin and full-sized bed sheets, pillows, blankets and bedspreads to the WMGLD business office during regular business hours or make a $1.00 donation to the Buy-a-Bed program. Mission of Deeds can buy a bed for each $90 donated. Monetary donations are also gratefully accepted at the WMGLD office.

Donations are accepted during regular business hours. The WMGLD business office is open each day at 7:45 a.m., and closes on Friday afternoons, at 1 p.m.  The office is open on Thursday evenings until 6 p.m.

“Please join the WMGLD and Mission of Deeds as we work together keep everyone warm this winter,” WMGLD Electric Superintendent Dan Flynn said. Flynn, a Director of Mission of Deeds serves as coordinator of the WMGLD’s collection drive and Buy-a-Bed program.
