(Wakefield, MA) – For the second consecutive year, the Wakefield Municipal Gas & Light Department (WMGLD) has donated holiday lights to save energy in the downtown area.

New strands of energy-efficient LED lights have been added to the LED lights provided by the WMGLD in 2008, according to WMGLD General Manager Pete Dion. In addition, the WMGLD has enhanced and expanded the downtown lighting program by donating energy efficient lighted garland for the street light poles along the lower end of Albion Street, from Main Street to North Avenue.

“The additional lights and garland are a welcome addition to the downtown area, and we are delighted that they are up in time for this weekend’s Holiday Stroll,” General Manager Dion said. “We are equally pleased that the lights are energy efficient and use a lot less energy than traditional bulbs.”
